TURNBULL MUST ACT TO SECURE DOMESTIC GAS SUPPLY - FRIDAY, 10 MARCH 2017

10 March 2017

Malcolm Turnbull should immediately convene a national emergency meeting on the gas crisis, including producers, users and the states.

The time for more talk from Turnbull is over, we need action now.

The gas crisis facing Australian businesses and households is real.

It beggars belief Malcolm Turnbull has done nothing while this crisis has escalated.

We need to look at all viable options to secure our domestic gas supply otherwise we will lose Australian jobs.

This includes sensible reservation options rolled out nationally, like what we've seen in Queensland.

Malcolm Turnbull must also take a serious look at the National Interest Test that Labor took to the last election.

This would make sure any future gas exports are in the national interest prior to approval.  Labor will never jeopardise Australia's reputation as an LNG exporter.

This is a problem Malcolm Turnbull can fix - and he must fix.
