E&OE TRANSCRIPT
DOORSTOP INTERVIEW
CANBERRA
TUESDAY, 27 NOVEMBER 2018

SUBJECTS: 2019 Federal Budget date; Liberal chaos and division; Julia Banks.

JOURNALIST: So it looks very likely that the election will now be the 11th or 18th of May. All systems are go, how are you feeling?

BILL SHORTEN, LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION: Mr Morrison has set the date of the election. It's 11th May or the 18th of May next year. The real issue here is what are we going to do for the people of Australia. This is a government who is going to rush a budget just to try and rescue them for the election. This is a government who has given up governing now.

JOURNALIST: And you must - what's your take on Julia Banks, the chaos?

SHORTEN: Julia Banks is a very strong woman, for the Liberal Party to lose her says a lot about you know, the dysfunction in the Liberal Party. But we're focused on the issues of better hospitals and better schools, not cuts and division.

JOURNALIST: Thank you for your time.

SHORTEN: Thanks.
