Airport West To Benefit From One Stop Shop

22 May 2012

People of Airport West will benefit from a Department of Human Services one-stop shop offering Centrelink and Medicare services from Monday 28 May 2012.

Minister for Human Services, Senator Kim Carr said he is proud of the benefits the new one-stop shop offers to Airport West residents.

"This centre, and the staff who will help run it, will help make life easier for Airport West residents who will be able to access more of the Department's services in one handy location," Senator Kim Carr said.

"A one-stop shop will offer a more seamless service that will help make lives easier.”

Mr Shorten welcomed the new centre.

"All staff providing Medicare services at Westfield Shopping Centre will relocate and offer the same services alongside the neighbouring Centrelink Service Centre at Westfield, and a new electronic payment method has been introduced to deliver Medicare rebates payments safely and securely,” Mr Shorten said.

"Residents can claim rebates electronically by either swiping their debit card which ensures people get their rebate immediately, or registering their bank account details with Medicare. The new payment options are fast, convenient and easy."

Senator Kim Carr said the Government is expanding the number of locations across Australia where people can access Centrelink and Medicare services in one spot.

"There are already over 200 extra sites where Medicare and Centrelink services can be accessed and there will be many more," Senator Carr said.

The Airport West Service Centre is open from 8.30am – 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
